My family and I had the pleasure of meeting Heather and Andy last spring when we took my quarter horse mare, Hope, for 30 days of training. They had to come out to our place to pick her up because she would not load. It was amazing to watch Andy work with her to a point where she eventually walked onto the trailer. By the next day when we stopped out to visit, she was jumping in and out of his trailer, no hesitation at all! Unbelievable!! They were both so kind, answered all of my questions and beleive me I had a ton of them! They made us feel very welcome everytime we stopped out. It was a great opportunity to be able to go and ride along with them so I could learn what I needed to do if certain situations came up while riding Hope. It was a great learning experience and a great confidence boost. This year we decided to take Hope out to the farm again, for a spring tune up. This time we took another one of our horses out as well for some riding time. We trust Andy and Heather 110% with our animals. They have alway treated them as they were their own. They are very honest and hard working and take pride in what they do. And they do great work!! They are both always willing to answer questions or help us anyway we need it. They take the time to listen to your concerns or what your horse needs work on and they do it. I HIGHLY recommend Devils Lake Horse Boarding and Training Farm to anyone and everyone!!! "Thank you Andy and Heather!!" Cory _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ | ![]() Hope |
"Heather and Andy are wonderful to work with. They will train your horse the way you want. They work hard to make sure you have a safe horse to ride. They put lots of ride time on your horse and make sure they are exposed to lots of different things. They provide a great place to board. They take very good care of your horse and go the extra mile to make sure your horse is healthy and safe. They have great places to ride. They are very easy to work with." ~Deb (Ponyboy, Stormy) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | Deb's daughter Kate on Stormy |
"Heather and Andy trained our horses. The paint did not have any respect for people. She would walk all over us when she had the chance. We were really thinking of selling her before anyone got hurt with her. After Andy worked with her, the paint came back a complete different horse. Now she respects people and is a calm horse. Heather and Andy also worked with our other mare Duchess. Duchess was very "green" when we took her to be trained. They exposed both horses to everything they could think of and as a result, we got two horses back that were fun to ride. My daughters even had a contest when we went for a ride of who could do the most things on their horse. And they both ended on standing up on the horses backs. And the horses just stood there. Heather and Andy both have a gift and talent with working with horses. I cant say enought of what they did. I would recommend them to anyone that needed their horse trained. Thanks guys." ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | ![]() Duchess and Fannie |
"Heather and Andy have broke 2 horses for me. A blue roan mare, that was a 5 year old, that was starting to set her ways. They had her riding and was safe in just 2 wks. After her full 30 days of training my 7 year old daughter was able to ride her with no problem. Today she is a safe kids mount. The other horse I sent was a 3 year old gelding. He broke out very well also. We gave him a wk of rest after being trained. We are able to jump on him bareback with just a halter and ride. If you are looking to get a horse started or very well started Heather and Andy will get the job done and done right. Thanks for a job well done." ~Neely ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | ![]() Rona May |
"Last summer when I delivered (Breezy), my 3yr old percheron/paint, to Andy & Heather, I was worried! She was the first horse that I had to find a trainer for. Even though she is 16.2 hands & over 1000 lbs, who could hurt her? I'm sure you know what I mean. Well, No Worries! Andy does a wonderful job working with the horses. All the hired hand are very nice people & seem to love what they do (put a lot of miles on your horse.) Heather is so patient, she listened to all my (Breezy) instructions: I even got to watch Andy start working with her that day! When I brought her home my horsey friends were very impressed with her performance & so was I. We went on trail rides & road her on the road! I would call it DownUnder Horsemanship Training in Baraboo,WI!" ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | ![]() Lori riding Breezy |
"Heather and Andy are AMAZING trainers! I’ve sent them several horses and ponies for training and riding refreshers. Heather and Andy made the entire experience enjoyable for my horses/ponies and were more then willing to work around my schedule. I really appreciated that they incorporated the basics (tying, leading, picking up hooves, etc.) into their over all training program. They took the time to ask me what exactly I’d like worked on with each horse/pony and it was obvious when I got my horses back that they HAD focused on the small details we had talked about. For instance, one pony I sent for some riding time is meant for children to ride, so I asked them to be careful that when they rode her not to turn her too sharply because I didn’t want her to start doing that on a regular basis. Another horse I asked them if they could use the mounting block a couple of times to get him used to it. Each request was small and kind of an after thought, but in both cases Heather and Andy made good on their word. I even had one pony that turned out to be a lot more stubborn (sorry Andy! J) then I had thought, but Andy didn’t give up and worked through it with her. The training was focused, yet kept interesting and fun for the horses. The horses were well looked after; constant access to shelter, water and hay; groomed when needed; tack that was used was inspected to ensure a good fit; and all horses were returned healthy and sound. Heather and Andy were willing to work with my schedule anytime I wanted to go over and watch a training session, ride my horse and even arranged to ride my horse themselves and allowed me to borrow one of their safe, experienced trail horses. Heather and Andy kept me up-dated on my horses’/ponies’ progress and even sent me some photos! They’ve also taken the time to ensure that their hard work followed the horses once they returned home; even offering to make a trip out to our farm to work with me and the horse if I ran into any problems! I’ve worked with several trainers over the years and this is the first time I’ve ever had a trainer guarantee their work to that level! I really appreciate all of their hard work and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for experienced trainers that are willing to make learning fun for the horses, accomplish what they say they will and are willing to take the extra step of ensuring that their training stayed with the horse!!!" ~Shannon Gills _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | Shannon riding Dancee |

"I brought my two 3yr old Friesian/Quarter Horse cross colts Axel and Jagger to Heather and Andy in August of '09. There was a huge difference within just one week of training. My boys went from being unruly to well behaved gentlemen. Andy was willing to arrange his schedule so that I could come out once a week to watch him work them. He told me everything he was doing and why, as he did it. He answered all my questions and I learned right along with my horses. I would recommend Heather and Andy to anyone." _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | Andy decensitizing Axel and Jagger |
"I brought my Quarter horse in for training to Devils Lake Farm and cannot tell you how pleased I am with the results. All of my friends have commented on the training my horse received, saying "Your trainer, "Andy" did an excellent job!" He even came out to follow up on his student, :) My friend will be calling to have her horse worked with. I recommend this horse training facility to all. Thanks Guys!!!" ~Rima rima1029@yahoo.com _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | ![]() Buddy |
Andy put a really good start on my gelding. I bough Scooter on November 4th 2009 and found out I was pregnant on Nov 8th. Scooter had been haltered and pulled around (not really taught to lead) and that was about all. He was very shy of people and hard to catch. After being with Andy and Heather for only a few weeks Scooter is amazing! On top of the few weeks Andy has been coming out once a week or so to take Scooter for little rides, just to keep his mind fresh! How wonderful that is for them to take time out of their schedule to come see my boy! "Heather and Andy were great. I recommend them to everyone. I brought a 2 year old Arabian and a 5 year old paint horse. The 2 year old "Tloioh" was broke to ride in less than 2 weeks. I was riding him in the arena and we also took several trail rides. The paint "Rain" was there for a refresher course so she would be safe for my granddaughter and friends to ride. We rode in fields, woods, and along roads. They experience many things: cars, big trucks, trains, dogs, and kids. We used Rain for a 4-H drill team and she completed in the state 4-H gymkhana competition. This year both Tloioh and Rain will be used for 4-H drill team, various shows, and lots of trail riding. I am very happy with how well they were trained without using harsh methods. I felt very welcome to come anytime to visit and ride with them. I am very satisfied with their training and continued support when I need it." ~Janet Roberts ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | The Roberts riding Tloioh and Rain |
"Heather and her staff put time on 3 of our young green horses over the last few years. The gelding and 2 mares benefited very much from the added time under saddle, and in particular were despooked for many obstacles on the road and trail. They treated the horses very well, and I could tell they enjoyed working with young horses." ~Trudy M. "I have sent 4 young horses to Heather and Andy to start under saddle over the past several years. Each horse has come back quiet, easy to handle and broke to trail , road and traffic. The horses come back confident very well handled and ready to take out and use." ""Annie" is a rescued mustang mare. When I bought her I believe I was mislead on the quality of her ride. I was lead to believe she would be an appropriate horse for a beginner (my daughter). She had also been solely owned for many years and did not adapt well to her new home. The first time she was ridden she went nuts and took off, busted thru fence, fell down and was quite upset. Luckily no one was hurt, but she had everyone now scared of her. Annie is very smart and used our fear to control us. Being a beautiful horse we decided to not get rid of her, though tempted, but to look for training. Heather and her staff had Annie for 1 month and did wonders. They even trained this hackmore horse to take a bit, which she has done with no grief ever since. She was calm, no attitude and ready to please. She came home the horse I always wanted for my daughter, they are inseparable and have over a year in of riding lessons together. From me, this training facility comes very highly recommended." ~Tracy Elsing jmcabinets@hotmail.com __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | Annie |
"I have a horse Copper who was 6 yrs old in 2009. I trained him myself to a little more than green broke state. I work full time so in 2009 I
decided to take Copper to a trainer for a month to put some miles on him and continue the training which I started. I follow
Clinton Anderson's Downunder Horsemanship methods and wanted a trainer that would take up where I left off and when I brought
Copper back home I would continue from there. I found Andy and Heather from their ad in the Wisconsin Horsemen's News.
After talking with Andy and seeing how he worked with Copper I left the horse and a list of things I wanted accomplished or worked
towards with Andy. I went back on weekends to see how he was doing and to ride him myself to make sure the items on my list were
being worked on. Most things were accomplished and those not, I can pick up where Andy left off and work on them this year
over the riding season. I enjoyed working with Andy and Heather and would recommend them to anyone. They are very honest and will do
what they promise."

"I highly recommend Heather and Andy for training and totally trust them with my horses, they have trained one horse for me that was a handful (Lily), and she was a totally different horse when she came home, and I will be sending another one in April, they take the time that each individual horse needs, and really care about the outcome for the horse and the owner, they are truthful and honest and welcome you to come and see your horse any time while it is there, again I highly recommend them, if anyone would like to call or email me for a reference I would be more than happy to talk with you!" ~Kelly Geisser Sparta Wi 608-487-1469 __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | Andy on Lily |
"I would just like to thank Heather, Andy and their staff for all the help with my horse, Kael. He is a draft cross that had been handled but never ridden before. One and a half weeks into the training he was able to be rode. Andy and Heather kept me updated on Kael's progress the entire time through e-mails, texts and phone calls. I felt very confident through the whole process that both me and my horse were well taken care of. They listened to my concerns and customized training to my needs. i couldn't have asked for a better outcome. I am so happy with my results from Kael that this year our other gelding Dante will be entering into their training program. I have no doubt the results will be great. Thanks again to Heather, Andy and everyone else who are involved in making the lives of the horses and their owner's more enjoyable." ~Dani M ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | ![]() Andy teaching Kael to ride double |
"I sent my young mare to Heather and Andy for training. Andy did a marvelous job. I wanted a dead broke horse that I could just get on and ride and that is what I got back. Our first trail ride was on a quiet road where logging was being done. Huge stacks of logs and equipment she has never seen before were beside the road and she didn't even blink an eye. She moves out with wonderful collection and confidence. I would definitely send another horse for training here." ~Dale & Laura Chitwood(dalechitwd@centurytel.net) |
